A FINAL CHECK FOR SHORT AUDIO SUBMISSIONS

Before you submit, check the actual audio file.

Keep the right section, compare the sound, then measure length, size and format from the file you actually made. Compare it with the recipient’s limits if you have them.

  1. Select a clip
  2. Compare sound
  3. Recheck the file

Check the format before opening

WAV · MP3; phone AAC-LC checked locally

M4A is a container, AAC is a codec. AAC-LC,1–2 channels only.

Will my phone recording open?

AAC-LC in M4A/MP4 or ADTS opens only if this browser decodes it. HE-AAC, ALAC, encrypted/fragmented MP4 are unsupported. Renaming is not conversion. If it fails, export WAV/MP3 in your recorder or try another browser.

  • Up to 100 MiB · 10 minutes (stereo shorter)
  • Opened and saved on this device, not uploaded
About sizes

100 MiB = 104,857,600 bytes. 1 MiB = 1,048,576 bytes; 1 MB = 1,000,000 bytes. Size rules are compared in whole bytes.

The sample is a 9-second test signal made in your browser: plain tones, not a voice.

Three checks before sending

  1. Keep only the section you need

Choose a precise section with waveform handles or start and end inputs.

  2. Compare original and edited sound

Compare the selected clip with gain, chosen mono and sample rate before compression. Hear the final encoded file after creation.

  3. Read back the file you made

After creating a WAV or MP3, measure duration, bytes and format. If you enter limits, compare them with the final file.

How it works

  1. Example

    Open

WAV · MP3 · AAC-LC (browser dependent); AAC-LC in M4A/MP4 or ADTS opens only if this browser decodes it. HE-AAC, ALAC, encrypted/fragmented MP4 are unsupported. Renaming is not conversion. If it fails, export WAV/MP3 in your recorder or try another browser.

  2. Example

    Trim and set the volume

Drag the handles on the waveform, tap it, or type the start and end. Listen to the original and the version with your volume.

  3. Example

    Check and save

The file is made, read back and measured. You see its real length, size and format, and how it compares with any rules you entered.

For short clips you may edit before sending

  • An audition or casting take
  • A short excerpt from your demo
  • A short self-introduction clip
  • A voice message or short announcement

Why check the final file?

Receivers set different limits. One help page asks for MP3 files of at most 10 MB; another asks for MP3 between 96 and 128 kbps. A file that looks right in an editor can still be a little too long or too large.

Here the saved file itself is measured. MB and MiB are kept apart, and MP3 length includes the few milliseconds the format adds.

Questions

Is my audio uploaded?
No. Your audio file is read and saved on your device and is never sent to a server. The browser only downloads the page’s own files (HTML, styles, scripts) from this site.
Do I have to enter rules?
No. Trimming and saving work without them. If you enter a maximum length or size, the saved file is compared with them.
Can it make a stereo file mono or change the sample rate?
Yes. Explicitly choose Mono and a sample rate in Submission specs. Default keeps original. Final file is decoded and measured against your choice.
Which files open?
WAV · MP3 · AAC-LC (browser dependent); AAC-LC in M4A/MP4 or ADTS opens only if this browser decodes it. HE-AAC, ALAC, encrypted/fragmented MP4 are unsupported. Renaming is not conversion. If it fails, export WAV/MP3 in your recorder or try another browser.
What does it not do?
No recording, transcription, noise/silence removal, joining or voice separation.

Opening the test tone replaces the current file, selection and volume. Choose to keep editing or explicitly replace it with the sample.
